After jumping 42% from Monday and earning a $6.2 million Tuesday, Ocean’s 8 has collected $52 million after five days of domestic release. I’ve already discussed at length that the notion of an all-female heist caper scoring big shouldn’t be a surprise, but I do think it’s worth briefly discussing one key factor of its success. I’m talking about its relative lack of conflict. While it’s not unfair to criticize the film for being almost wholly lacking in tension, suspense or actual conflict, that’s also one of the critical factors in its appeal and its successThis isn’t Ocean’s 11 where Danny Ocean (George Clooney

Ocean’s 8 review ‘ gender-swapped rob-com is a criminal waste

Where were the climactic crises and heroic solutions? Where were the big moments where it all goes wrong and then right in unexpected ways? Helen Bonham Carter says Ocean’s 8 has ‘hit the G spot’

Helena Bonham Carter has said it is ‘serendipitous’ the female-dominated Ocean’s 8 film has come out in the middle of the Time’s Up moment, and added it has ‘hit the G spot’ in the zeitgeist.

The British actress stars opposite Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina and Rihanna in the heist movie, in which a group of female criminals plot to rob the Met Gala in New York.

Arriving at the European premiere in London, she told the Press Association it was perfect timing that it was being released in the middle of the discussion about gender equality.

‘Ocean’s 8’ Review: Women Doing Crimes And (Probably) Each Other

On Thursday night, I sat down for a showing of Ocean’s 8. By then, I had been tweeting about this movie for nearly two years. It had been on my mind for countless hours. By then, I also already knew that there was, tragically, not going to be a lesbian sex scene between Cate Blanchett’s Lou and Sandra Bullock’s Debbie in the movie. Which means I will be taking legal action. Does anyone know any hot lawyers with hair falling in perfect messy waves like Debbie Ocean’s when she’s first released from prison? Lmk.
