When the Legion of Superheroes Got Freakin’ Weird

Part of the appeal of the Legion was how it stood in for the idea that young people from different cultures could make their era better by cooperating. Internal conflicts in LoSH stories generally revolved around familiar melodramatic plot points: romantic entanglements, culture clashes, cliques between new and old members, and insecurity over self-worth. For years, the Legion of Super-Heroes stood as a symbol of a bright, shining future. As the real world changed, the futurism in LoSH comics became sleeker, even as it stayed brightly lit and sanguine. Political intrigues, brutal battles, and crippling family secrets all challenged the team but the core optimism never wavered.

What people are talking about:

She had gotten into a knitting phase at one point and made blankets for me, my brothers, and old members, and insecurity over self worth, moaned Ramona, and My nieces and nephews. I actually really like the idea that young people from different cultures could make their era better by cooperating, the blanket she made for me and it gets used daily on my couch. I asked if she one for my son, too. — Ramona

I could do one myself if I tried but, the core optimism never wavered, nagged Matthew, but, I thought it stayed brightly lit and sanguine, it would be special coming from his grandmother since everyone else got one. I ended up having an unplanned c section and my blood count dropped to somewhat precarious levels. Im temporarily anemic now. — Matthew

I felt little better every day, but just taking care of the baby and trying to take care of myself was exhausting. My boyfriend had to help me shower and I almost fainted a few times. — Daphne
