San Francisco’s Exploratorium was established in a large empty building in Golden Gate Park by physicist Frank Oppenheimer in 1969. Today the museum is housed in piers 15 and 17 as part of the Embarcadero, on the San Francisco Bay. The original aim continues where visitors are offered phenomena and experiences and encouraged to play, observe and test through physical interaction. The glass cabinets have been removed allowing visitors to experience and feel the effects of science in their world.
